Collegiate School
Collegiate continues its historic tradition in New York City of educating a diverse and talented student body and of helping boys to become independent adults and responsible citizens who will lead and serve.
Message from the Headmaster:
"All of us at Collegiate work every day to combine rigorous academic preparation with a consistent commitment to encouragement of and support for all in our community.  With high aspirations for itself and its students, Collegiate educates boys from kindergarten through twelfth grade. With approximately 630 boys in thirteen grades, our small class size encourages strong, resilient, supportive, and trusting friendships among the boys and close relationships between the boys and their teachers. The School’s ethos of generosity and respect further underscores the importance of sustained and supportive relationships throughout the community.
Challenging and intense, our academic curriculum nevertheless encourages collaboration and cooperation. This curriculum is complemented and completed by significant offerings in the fine arts, drama, music, and a range of team sports. Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the school takes advantage of all New York City has to offer culturally; in addition, we are committed to reaching out to the greater community with service opportunities available for each grade.
Collegiate appreciates and works consistently to discover, nurture, and share the varied and unique gifts each student brings to and shares with the school. I hope that your visit to our website will encourage you to visit our School. "
Program:
Collegiate School is home to just over 600 boys in Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade. Our students learn about themselves and their world through a challenging academic program, support both in and out of the classroom, an impressive range of extracurricular activities, and many opportunities for service and leadership. Our talented faculty teaches and mentors the students as they develop intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
With basic skills and a measure of maturity under their belts, students in Fifth Grade through Eighth Grade embrace greater academic challenges and increasing independence. A devoted Middle School faculty expertly guides the boys toward success both in and out of the classroom. The students take pride in their own student government, athletic teams, and elective program.
In Collegiate’s Upper School, students embark on rigorous academic challenges while enjoying a full range of extracurricular opportunities. Students are given a large measure of responsibility for determining their academic programs and their involvement in activities. A faculty advisor helps each boy plan for every term, and parents participate in the process by approving their son’s course selections. Collegiate works hard to foster the personal qualities that help boys grow into capable and caring adults.
