Enhance the cultural experiences in your community

The Albany Berkshire Ballet performs a full range of program options from classical ballet productions to in-school classroom sessions and or residencies.
Whether you choose performances, residencies or educational programs, the Albany Berkshire Ballet staff will work with you to meet your objectives and budget.
The Albany Berkshire Ballet seeks:
 a) To bring quality dance performance to the public, particularly in those rural areas that do not have easy access to dance performance found in and around major metropolitan areas.
 b) To educate the public about this form of artistic expression, especially children.
 c) To promote through performance the work of diverse modern choreographers while continuing to promote and perform classical ballet at its highest level
The Albany Berkshire Ballet is nationally recognized for its versatility in performing both classical and contemporary dance works with excellence.
The company's classical repertory rivals that of any large company performing today. With works created by some of ballet's greatest choreographers including Igor Youskevitch, Michel Fokine, and Antony Tudor, the Albany Berkshire Ballet performs such full-length ballets as "Giselle," "Cinderella," "Coppelia," "The Nutcracker," "Romeo and Juliet," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream," delighting audiences of all ages.
A Commitment to breaking new ground in contemporary dance
The Albany Berkshire Ballet is highly acclaimed for its support of newly emerging artists and the company's ability to perform daring new works by such esteemed contemporary choreographers as Phillip Jerry, Saecko Ichinohe, Francis Patrelle, Gus Solomons Jr., Mary Giannone Talmi, Ginger Thatcher, Bill T. Jones, Laura Dean, Charles Moulton and Daryl Gray.
The School teaches the Cecchetti method of ballet developed by Enrico Cecchetti, world renowned teacher of the Ballet Russes and ballet master of Diaghilev Ballet Russes, who trained such dancers as Pavlova, Fokine and Nijinsky. Among his proteges was English ballerina Margaret Craske who later taught at the Juilliard School and Jacob's Pillow.  From Miss Craske, Madeline Cantarella Culpo developed her technique.
At the School of the Albany Berkshire Ballet and the Cantarella School of Dance the welfare of our young dancers is paramount.
The program provides inspiration and progressive physical development in a professional friendly atmosphere. Classes are offered daily at all levels.  Modern, Lyrical, Jazz and Tap dance classes complement the ballet training.
Multiple lessons are available at special tuition rates. Students are encouraged to take a minimum of two classes per week.
THE ACADEMIES OF THE SCHOOLS OF THE ALBANY BERKSHIRE BALLET is a comprehensive training program for the talented and serious pre-teen student who desires to commit more time to the art of dance. Advanced students may apply for admission to the ALBANY BERKSHIRE BALLET JUNIOR COMPANY. These pre-professional classes accelerate talented students and expose them to nationally known teachers. Both the Academy and the Junior Company perform frequently in the Capital Region and the Berkshires throughout the year. Admission to the Academy and Junior Company is by audition only.
