Here you'll get to dance:
Mambo
Mambo music came into the social scene in the thirties and was introduced mainly by band leader Perez Prado. However, the dance didn't catch on heavily until 1952. The Mambo was first danced in New York City and was the result of a merging of the Swing and Rumba.
Cha-Cha
Originally known as the Cha-Cha-Cha, Mambo mixed with Jitterbug.  Became popular in 1954.  An offshoot of the Mambo, which had different tempos.  In the slow Mambo tempo, there was a distinct sound in the music that people began dancing to, calling the step the "Triple Mambo."  Evolved into a separate dance of its own, known today as the Cha-Cha.
Merengue
Orignally done in the U.S. in 1941, lost favor for a time, re-appeared about 1957 and was played heavily by Xavier Cugat. Caught on with the public and has remained part of the social dancing scene since that time.  Originally came from Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Disco
Most Disco dances have strong roots in Swing, Samba, Cha-Cha, Mambo, Merengue, Fox Trot and Tango.  The Hustle is believed to have originated in New York in 1970.
Salsa
A peppery version of the Mambo and various forms of other Latin dances played in a fiery, faster tempo.  Some call it a form of hot Latinized rock'n roll.  Usually, the Salsa steps follow the movements from Mambo combining with Cumbia and danced to the fast Latin-Rock music!
Walz
Originated in Italy in the 1600's as a round dance called the "Volte."  Passed through many stages.  Was danced in American in the early 1800's, but didn't start being danced much by the middle class in Europe until early 1900.  The first social dance where the woman was actually held in a man's arms.
Tango
Came into vogue in 1910-1914.  Popularly thought of as an origination in Argentina, but may have originated from Spain, Morocco or even France.  Rudolph Valentino made this dance very popular.  The more intricate version often is called Molengo Tango.
Rumba
Came in to the United States in the early thirties.  Originally danced in Cuba as a religious-rites dance with over thirty different types and styles.  The Rumba we do today was originally known as the "Son."
Samba
Originated in Brazil, was and is danced as a festival dance during street festivals and celebrations.  First introduced to the U.S. in a Broadway play called "Street Carnival" in the late twenties.
The festive style and mood of the dance has kept it alive and popular to this day.
